This is a brilliant and very easy idea. There are some ideas that can be too easy that nobody thinks about them. Umbrella Today is one of these ideas. It is a very simple website. The user just put his or her Zip Code (US only) and asks if he has to take his umbrella. The possible results are two. YES or NO! Check it..

Holiday shopping guide

The decisions you make with your hard-earned money this year will have more impact than ever before. So put your money where your mouth is.

Here are a few ideas to consider from Seth’s Blog:

1. Buy handmade items from people you like.

2. Don’t buy gift cards. It’s lazy and sort of dumb.

3. Don’t buy from big brands or big stores that don’t care about you, or that act in ways you don’t applaud. There are very smart alternatives in almost every category.

4. When in doubt, buy digital items. Even better, give a donation and make many people happy.

5. Realize that when you’re going to buy from Amazon, buying from a lens with a red ribbon on top will earn significant money for charity with no effort on your part.

Hugs are an underrated substitute.

I have to share this submission for a booze-related non-gadgety Weird Combo of the Day, which we get more often than not. What are these people thinking? Are the people in charge of product synergy more than occasionally enjoying the products they’re synergizing? Perhaps. Or it could be that in Shanghai reader Charles’ neighborhood, they’re just making loose associations between these two types of creams. No matter; the Nivea probably tastes rich going down too.

Yoono has existed for a few years, but recently overhauled its browser plug last May. Since we last covered Yoono, it has become a featured Firefox 3 Recommended Download, and has grown to a total install base of around 1.8 million users (though only 500k of those are using the new version).

Beginning today the plugin will begin supporting imeem and MySpace, which join Flickr, Twitter, FriendFeed, Facebook, and a number of others as supported services. imeem users will be able to play their music from the sidebar as they use other widgets and browse the web. Yoono acknowledges that there are other social aggregators that support more services (and are adding them at a faster pace), but says that it is striving to go through “all the proper channels” for each site to ensure future support and the tightest integration possible. Along with the additional networks the plugin has also seen a nice UI change, remedying my earlier concern that navigating the sidebar was too difficult because it was overly cluttered.

On November 24th the site will launch a Shopping widget, which Yoono says will be a key point in its monetization plans. As users browse the web, the Shopping widget will automatically search for relevant goods for purchase across shopping partners like Amazon, eBay, and iTunes (the site gets paid if users click the link or buy a product). I think that this approach to generating revenue beats putting display ads in the sidebar (as some competitors have tried), but I wonder how often users will voluntarily choose to have the shopping widget maximized as they browse the web – I’d probably minimize the widget and use that sidebar space to see more of my friends list.

Yoono competes with a number of other plugins like Minggl, as well as the Flock web browser.

Today at 8pm was live the 30minute Obama’s ad. It was the most expensive ad in the history. This ad was on the air simultaneously in the channels FOX, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, UniVision, BET  and TV One. The cost of this ad was approximately $3-$5 millions!

Nakheel announced that they will build the tallest skyscraper in the world. Nakheel Tower,will be built in Dubai, and its height will be 1200 meters!!! Responsible for the construction will be an Australian company (Woods Bagot) and the total cost will be $61 billions! The tower will be ready in 10 years!

Besides this tower there will be 40 buildings with a height of 20-90 floors. Totally there will be 55,000 residents and 45,000 employees!
